Approaches to therapy
As a counsellor, Jonathan seeks to create a warm, collaborative and supportive environment in sessions. His approach is oriented towards growth, change and awareness. He will work together with you to help you develop greater levels of self understanding, self acceptance and self efficacy.
He has experience working with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, and aims to understand each person’s unique and specific context as well as empowering them by building on strengths and helping them find sustaining meaning in their lives. Approaches he draws on include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Constructivist Therapy.

Background and experience
Jonathan is a counselling psychologist, consultant, facilitator, executive senior manager, coach, and clinical supervisor with over 25 years of experience in hospital, community health, university, public mental health, not for profit and commercial settings in Ireland, the UK and Australia.
In a diverse career as a psychologist, Jonathan has developed a reputation for his people skills, warmth, intelligence, and collegial and collaborative interpersonal style. He is able to engage and build effective partnerships with a wide variety of colleagues and stakeholders. He has outstanding written and oral communication skills, with extensive experience in public speaking, media, facilitation, training and strategic negotiation, as well as a strong bedrock of clinical practice capability. Jonathan is a values driven individual with a commitment to social justice and dedicated service to others. He is an LGBTQIA+ friendly and neurodiversity affirming practitioner.
