Psychologist in Brunswick | Individual Counselling & Therapy

Intro

Looking for a psychologist in Brunswick? We are a psychology, counselling and relationship therapy practice based in Brunswick East, a short trip from Brunswick, Coburg, Northcote, Thornbury, Fitzroy North and Carlton. Our team of psychologists and counsellors brings many years of experience to working with adults, both individually and as couples.

We see clients in person at our Albert Street rooms and online via telehealth. You don’t need a referral to book, and Medicare rebates are available for eligible sessions with a GP referral.

Our services

  • A woman with her back turned at Melbourne's Victoria Market, overlooking the skyscrapers of Melbourne.

    Individual counselling & psychology

Counselling gives you a confidential space to talk through what’s happening, understand it more clearly and try out different ways of responding. We take a practical, growth-focused approach, working with you on the things you want to change.

  • A middle-age couple riding bicycles and talking in a park, with leafy tree foliage above them.

    Relationship & couples counselling

Differences and conflict are a normal part of any relationship. Relationship counselling helps you and your partner understand what’s going on between you and build better ways of communicating and connecting. We work with couples of all kinds, including LGBTQIA+ couples.

  • A male in a bright yellow jacket and black jeans, striding along a street outside a tall brick building with large windows.

    Organisational consulting & supervision

We also work with organisations and practitioners, offering workplace consulting, facilitation, training, coaching and clinical supervision.

What we can help with

Our psychologists and counsellors work with a wide range of concerns. Some people come to us knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others just know that something isn’t working. Either is okay. Common reasons people see us include:

  • Anxiety, stress and worry

  • Depression and low mood

  • Relationship difficulties and conflict

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma and difficult past experiences

  • Life transitions, such as separation, becoming a parent or a change of career

  • Work stress and burnout

  • Self-esteem and identity

  • Family conflict and parenting challenges

  • If what you’re dealing with isn’t listed here, get in touch anyway. We’ll let you know whether we’re a good fit, and if we’re not, we can suggest other options.

Seeing a psychologist in Brunswick: fees, Medicare and rebates

You don’t need a referral to book an appointment with us. If you have a GP referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on sessions with our psychologists and accredited mental health social workers. The rebate covers part of the session fee. Under the Better Access initiative, eligible people can claim a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year.

Relationship and couples counselling isn’t covered by Medicare. Many private health funds offer rebates for psychology or counselling through extras cover, depending on your policy, so it’s worth checking with your fund.

Our fees vary depending on whether your appointment is during business hours or after hours. Call us for current fees.

For more detail on rebates and referrals, see our psychology and counselling services page.

Your first appointment

Here’s how getting started works:

1.     Get in touch. Call us on 03 9193 7094 or send an enquiry through our contact page. Let us know a little about what you’re looking for.

2.     We’ll match you with a practitioner. Based on what you tell us, we’ll suggest a member of our team whose experience suits your needs and offer you an appointment time. You’re also welcome to request a specific practitioner.

3.     Your first session. The first session is mostly about getting to know you: what’s brought you in, what you’d like to change and how we might work together. You don’t need to prepare anything, and you can ask questions at any point. Sessions run for approximately 55 minutes.

If you are accessing Medicare, please email your GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan before your first session, or bring them with you. To read more, see what you can expect in your first psychology appointment.

Meet our psychologists and counsellors

Our team brings together counselling psychologists, accredited mental health social workers, a mental health occupational therapist, and relationship and family therapists. Each practitioner has their own areas of focus. You can read their profiles and choose someone who suits you, or let us match you.
